Our Americana backdrop was created to bring the spirit of the 4th of July into our space for our creators. Can’t make it to the studio this month? MATERIALS LIST
3 foot wooden dowel
Red Ribbons
White Ribbons
Blue Fabric Square
White acrylic paint
Sponge Paintbrush
String
Hot glue or staples
STEP 1:
Grab your wooden dowel and figure begin measuring out 8-10 foot long strips of ribbon.
STEP 2:
Beginning with red ribbon, tie the ribbon around the dowel at the halfway point of the strip of ribbon (so 4-5 feet of ribbon drapes on either side of the dowel). Next, do the same with your white ribbon. Continue this red and white pattern until the dowel has completely covered. Use the smaller dot ribbon to add texture to the white areas on the dowel.
STEP 3:
Grab your blue fabric square, paintbrush, white acrylic paint, and star shaped stencil (I made mine out of cardboard). Using the stencil, paint white stars in a pattern with a couple inches between each star. After you’ve patterned and painted all the stars, let the paint dry.
STEP 4:
Once your stars are dry, glue the blue piece of fabric to the left side of the dowel (this will cover some of your red and white ribbons).
STEP 5:
Use string to hang your beautiful new backdrop wherever you please!
